Overview:
This webinar will explore how digital tools and creative methods can drive youth-led activism in housing, climate crisis, mental health, and human rights. The session aims to empower young people to actively engage in shaping public policies that affect them by integrating arts-based methods, digital participation platforms like Decidim, and Legislative Theatre principles. By fostering a culture of youth engagement, we hope to create avenues for young people to directly influence policy decisions and advocate for change in their communities.
Objectives:
-
Utilise Digital Tools for Activism
Equip young people with the knowledge to use digital platforms and tools like Decidim to amplify their voices in housing, climate, mental health, and human rights campaigns. -
Incorporate Arts-Based Methods
Showcase how creative approaches like Legislative Theatre can empower youth to present policy ideas in dynamic and engaging ways, building a bridge between advocacy and decision-makers. -
Foster a Culture of Youth Engagement
Encourage active participation from young people by creating an inclusive environment where their perspectives shape public discourse and policy on pressing issues like housing access and climate change. -
Connect Activism to Policy-Making
Explore pathways for young activists to effectively engage with policymakers and influence legislation through grassroots campaigns and digital activism.
Key Topics
- Digital Tools for Policy Influence: Learn how platforms like Decidim can democratise decision-making and mobilise collective action.
- Housing Activism in the Digital Age: Exploring the role of digital participation in campaigns for affordable and inclusive housing.
- Climate, Mental Health, and Human Rights Advocacy: How youth can use digital spaces and creative approaches to push for change on climate action and mental health using a human rights lens.
- Arts-Based Methods for Social Change: Understand how Legislative Theatre and other creative forms of expression can facilitate dialogue between youth and policymakers.
Goal:
By the end of the webinar, young people will be equipped with digital participation tools, creative methods, and the inspiration to actively shape the public policies that affect them, fostering a deeper culture of engagement and empowerment in social justice campaigns. This initiative feeds off our manifesto, emphasising the need for intersectional lenses to broaden the scope of societal issues. It also aims to bridge the gap between grassroots activism and policy-making, ensuring that diverse voices are heard and represented in decision-making processes.
