#FDCD Citizen deliberation: challenges and opportunities

Introduction

The Forum on Deliberation, Creativity and Democracy is part of the guidelines that mark Barcelona's status as European Capital of Democracy and responds to the need to generate a space for reflection and dissemination in which to debate and share projects on citizen practices of political participation.

The Forum's activities are designed to actively promote the values of democracy, such as equality, freedom, justice and solidarity, from the point of view of deliberation and citizen participation, in an exercise of democratic deepening.

For four days, the Canòdrom in Barcelona will host presentations, workshops and practices led by experts, administration staff, national and international techniques and the citizens of Barcelona.

Program

1) Presentation of the Platoniq School of Creativity and Democracy (REGISTER)

The event will present the different activities of the School, as well as the training courses and modules that are aimed at citizens as well as civil servants and politicians.

📍 Open to anyone interested in democratic innovation.


2) Autumn School on Citizens' Assemblies promoted by FIDE, with the collaboration of Deliberativa (OBLIGATORY PRE-REGISTRATION)

A highly recognised training aimed at civil servants, politicians, civil society and private organisations involved in the different stages of the decision-making process.

📍Aimed at policy makers, technical staff of public administration, and civil society organisations interested in training to activate or take part in Citizens' Assemblies (both in the Iberian Peninsula and in other European countries).


3) Deliberation in the local world, organised by Raons Públiques (REGISTER)

Conference to disseminate good practices and debate on how to incorporate deliberative processes with citizens for decision-making on public policies in local contexts.

📍 Aimed at technical teams from public administrations and participation professionals.


4) Annual meeting of Red Delib

The meeting aims to deepen the knowledge among members of the network, exchange experiences, doubts, knowledge, and establish a roadmap for the network.
