🧰 Resources for LT
In preparation for the workshop:
Watch this short animation(External link) on the legislative theatre process, and explore the resources available on The People Act(External link) hub.
There's a new workbook available for facilitators of forum and legislative theatre (or any creative change process), with games, flashcards, and more. It may be useful to you during the workshop, especially for those experimenting with LT facilitation; we'll have one copy printed on site, but go ahead and download it beforehand. It's available by donation, written by Theatre of the Oppressed NYC facilitators and Katy Rubin: The Wildcard Workbook: A Practical Guide for Jokering Forum Theatre(External link).
You can also access, free and available in multiple languages, a Digital Playbook(External link) for practitioners starting to plan new LT initiatives, with detailed questions and templates.
Some examples: if you've never seen a Legislative Theatre process in person, please take a few minutes to check out these resources:
A short video(External link) from a recent LT process in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, on temporary accommodation.
A short video(External link) and background(External link) from a youth-led climate Legislative Theatre with Glasgow City Council.
A short video(External link) and case study(External link) on Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s recent LT initiative towards co-creating the GM Homelessness Prevention Strategy.
If you have several hours, grab your popcorn and watch a full LT process...here’s Medway Council(External link)!
Finally, you can skim this report(External link) on Legislative Theatre projects and outcomes in New York City.
